Storyboard a film, an ad or a scene
A storyboard is a sequence, and the reason it usually gets built in a slide deck is that slides are already in order. The cost of that is you can only ever see three of them at once, and the thing you are actually judging is the rhythm across twenty.
The whole sequence, at once
Lay the frames out in a row and zoom out. Pacing problems are visible from across the room and invisible one slide at a time — three static wides in a row is obvious as a shape long before it is obvious as a sequence of frames.
Reordering is dragging. There is no outline view that has to agree with the board, because the board is the outline.
Draw the frame you cannot describe
The pen is pressure-aware, with colour and width control, and it draws straight onto the canvas rather than into a card. A rough sketch over a reference photo is usually faster and clearer than finding the right stock image, and the crossed-out version underneath is worth keeping.
Shapes and arrows handle camera moves. Header text labels the act breaks.
Notes that stay attached to the shot
Each frame can carry a note for the direction, a task card for what still has to be shot, and a comment card from whoever reviewed it. All three sit next to the frame rather than in a document that refers to it by number.
Nest a board inside a card to break a complicated sequence out without losing your place — the whole sub-sequence collapses back to one tile on the parent board when you are done with it.
What this is not good at
This is not an editing tool. There is no timeline that plays back, no animatic export and no frame timing. It is where the sequence gets decided before anything is cut.
